June 2024- Jan Dunin-Wasowicz was named to Global Investigations Review (GIR)’s 40 under 40 list, which shines a spotlight on people from around the world who have gone above and beyond in their work. Jan Dunin-Wasowicz is co-Chair of Hughes Hubbard & Reed’s Sanctions, Export Controls & AML practice and based in the firm’s Paris office.

As part of the award, Jan spoke to GIR about his career. “Many of the matters I have had the chance to work on during the past decade or so were significant either because of their unprecedented scope, multi-jurisdictional exposure and resolution, or the novel questions they raised,” Jan told the publication. Regarding sanctions and export controls matters, Jan added that these matters “are often significant due to the complexity of the legal issues and the policy interests at hand.” When asked about the future of his practice Jan said, “Geoeconomics has never been as relevant as it is today for general counsels and chief compliance officers.” He continued, “As the private sector is increasingly expected to carry such foreign policy and national security interests, these tectonic shifts will likely continue to impact my practice.”

In 2023, Hughes Hubbard & Reed was named to the GIR 30 list, a ranking of the best law firms for complex multijurisdictional corporate investigations.
