Hughes Hubbard Assists MediaNews Group in Sale of Alaska TV Station

Hughes Hubbard & Reed assisted MediaNews Group in the sale of CBS affiliate KTVA of Anchorage, Alaska to Denali Media Anchorage, Corp.

The transaction was announced in Nov. 2012 and closed on Nov. 1, 2013 after the Federal Communications Commission granted approval.
 
The deal received coverage in The New York Times, The Associated Press and other news outlets.
 
Denali is a subsidiary of General Communication Inc. (GCI), Alaska’s largest telecommunications company. GCI is the top provider of voice, data and video services to Alaska consumers with a 70 percent share of the consumer broadband market.
 
MediaNews is the second largest newspaper company by circulation in the United State. The company reaches more than 67 million Americans each month through more than 800 multi-platform products across 18 states.
