Ilaria Bellini is an associate at Hughes Hubbard’s Paris office and member of the firm’s Sanctions, Export Controls & Anti-Money Laundering, Multilateral Development Bank Investigations and Sanctions, and Global Investigations, Enforcement and Compliance practices. She is admitted to the Italian Bar and registered at the Paris Bar under the Directive 98/5/CE.
Ilaria regularly assists clients with matters involving economic sanctions and restrictive measures, internal investigations, anti-corruption due diligence, and implementation of compliance policies and programs. She also advises on business and human rights compliance, particularly in the context of the EU and international legislation.
Prior to joining Hughes Hubbard, Ilaria developed cross-cutting legal and policy experience, assisting both private clients and public international institutions. She worked in the Sanctions Unit at the European Commission in Brussels, where she contributed to the draft, negotiation, and preparatory works of EU Sanctions Regulations and Guidelines. She also worked at the World Bank in Washington D.C., serving as a legal consultant on Sanctions and AML. From 2020 to 2022, she advised clients on EU law, litigation, and commercial arbitration, collaborating with a global law firm in Milan. During her first law studies at Bocconi University, Ilaria worked for a London-based international law firm as well as at the Public Prosecutor’s Office in Milan, in the Criminal Court.
Ilaria is also a Research Scholar at the New York University’s Center for Human Rights and Global Justice, where she conducts research on human rights compliance and policy. She is Member of the American Society of International Law.
