Prior to Garett’s retirement, he was a corporate partner in Hughes Hubbard’s New York office where he focused on the acquisition and sale of companies and financings. He was particularly active in transactions involving the media and entertainment industry including newspapers, major electronic information services, top 60 market network TV affiliates, cable TV systems, and newsprint plants. He also handled matters relating to natural resource deposits and refineries, water and gas utilities and those concerning Major League Baseball franchises.
